"ALL THAT I AM, OR HOPE TO BE, I OWE TO MY ANGEL MOTHER." -ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Outfit details: Dress // Shoes // Earrings (mine are old & sold out, but new are linked)

In honor of Mother's Day being this past Sunday, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for you to get to know my mom, Laura! To know her is to love her - she is simply the best! She's funny, loving, the ultimate care taker, and is constantly working on a project.

To get to know her a little better, here's a little "motherhood" Q&A (along with a couple of get-to-know-me questions) she sat down with me for.

Q1: What is your favorite song to listen to?

A: "How Great Thou Art"

Q2: What is something you love to do in your spare time?

A: "Read the Bible and Debbie Macomber books."

Q3: How many kids did you want before you were a mother?

A: "None, but God changed my mind and blessed me with two at one time." (I'm a twin!)

Q3: Who was your role model as a child? Who is it today?

A: "My mother (Peggy Ann). You." (mama's gonna make me cry!)

Q4: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: "Radiology technologist. After I was in a serious car wreck in high school, it peaked my interest."

Q5: What is the best lesson you learned from your mother?

A: "That you can't please everybody all the time."

Q6: What did you admire most about your mother?

A: "Her faith in the Lord."

Q7: What is your favorite food?

A: "I would say guacamole and then Chick fil a." (Same, girl, same.)

Q8: What has surprised you most about motherhood?

A: "How much you could love someone unconditionally."

Q9: Do you want grandchildren? If so, how many?

A: (as she laughs...) "One day I do, and no more than two."

Q10: What has been the most rewarding part of being a mother?

A: "Gosh, there's so many things. Watching my children grow up to be strong and independent adults."

MONTHLY GOALS: MAY

Happy May! (a couple of weeks late...) I for one am so glad May is here because that means summer is near, or is it here?  I'm not sure where "spring" went because it went from being pretty chilly to 85-90 degrees everyday. Although no complaining here because I love warm weather!

A short recap of my April goals:

Visiting friends from college. I visited two friends from college and my future sister in law in Atlanta and it was LIFE GIVING! Seriously, I didn't realize how badly I needed to go see these people until I felt like a breath of fresh air was breathed into me. I felt so rejuvenated and motivated after spending the weekend with them. I didn't want to come home! Which never happens. Here's to planning another weekend trip asap!

Brush up on baking skills.  I did absolutely none of this. Oh well, maybe this month!

Saving $$$. Going well, but could always be better!

Writing out Proverbs. Done! I gotta say, towards the end was a struggle to finish. I enjoyed it, but I think if I were to recommend writing out a book of the Bible to anyone, I'd say start with a smaller book and don't put a timeline on it.

The most delicious strawberries I picked up from a farmers market on the way back home from UGA's spring game!

Onto MAY GOALS:

Since were halfway into May, I'll share some goals I'm already working on.

Clean out my closet & sell unwanted/unworn clothes. My best gal pal, Cherokee, is the QUEEN of cleaning out and organizing, so she helped me tackle my closet. We had a sell pile and donate pile and she organized my closet better than I've ever seen it. All my clothes are hung by color, fabric, and style - it looks amazing! My mom has a friend who sells things at yard sales all around the county so she gave her my stuff and she sold it all! Now to go through the 1000+ tshirts and swimsuits I have that I don't wear...wish me luck!

Read Girl, wash your face by Rachel Hollis. Y'ALL, go get this book and read it now! I bought the audiobook after I had seen a few people talk about it on Instagram. I am only a few chapters in and I don't want to stop listening!

Clean up my diet. Just to clarify, this is not a diet challenge or weight loss goal, but a goal to start putting good things into my body all the time. After committing to this for longer than the last two weeks, I'll do a full post on explaining myself. But for now, my goal is to incorporate as many raw and whole foods into my diet as possible and cut down on animal products. So far, so good!

Get back to posting outfits on my blog again. I completely stopped posting on here for a while because I was very overwhelmed with some things going on in my life. After the past few months of getting back to myself and what truly makes me happy, I realized how much I miss shooting outfits with my mom and sharing them with y'all! I am so passionate about fashion and style and it is a huge part of my life.

Plan a girls trip to Charleston. My mom and I are planning a trip with our favorite girls at what's looking to happen in late July! I have never been to Charleston and I couldn't be more excited!

Start a new workout routine.  I did the 12 week BBG and loved it, but I'm so over doing the same thing over and over. I've heard there is a BBG 2.0 that is a little different, so I might try it out to see what it's like!

That's all for this month!

Stay sunny,
Katie

MARCH RECAP & MONTHLY GOALS: APRIL

Happy Monday and Happy April! I can't believe it's already April. Praise the Lord we had beautiful weather here for Easter yesterday! There are still some cold days ahead in the forecast, but I think spring might have officially arrived.

Before I get into my goals for April, I wanted to share some pictures from Easter yesterday.

My twin brother, John and me!

We wanted to get Ace in the photo (facing forwards, of course) but this was the best we could do (lol) John was holding a treat and that's all he was focused on!

March Goals RECAP (to check out my March goals, click here.)

Write out the book of Proverbs. Still not finished, but it's going! I was really trying to stay on a strict schedule, but I've found that going through books of the Bible like that can defeat the purpose of diving in deep (at least for me, it might work for you!). Sometimes I get overwhelmed so I've just been taking it one day at a time and do as much or as little as I like. I'm on chapter 18!

Snail Mail. Complete! I only had two friends with March birthdays, so it was an easy one! I need to check my calendar asap for April birthdays!

Contentment Challenge. Totally blew this one for March. I don't recommend going on a trip to NYC the month you plan to not spend any shopping money. Good thing it's supposed to be three months so I have two more months to make up for it ;) Lol but really, I'm trying to do better this month. Stay tuned!

Reading List. Going well! I haven't read as much as I would have liked, but I've also been traveling this past month and that always puts a damper on my reading time. I'm halfway through Passion & Purity by Elisabeth Elliott and I highly recommend. So much wisdom. I also haven't purchased any new books which is a positive!

Travel to NYC. Done! To check out the post on that, click here

APRIL GOALS

SAVE $$$! This goes along with the Contentment Challenge, but since that's mostly saving shopping money, I wanted to make it it's own goal. I'm trying to save everywhere I can so I can (Lord willing!) move to a new living space this year.

Visit friends from college. I have a trip planned this coming weekend to see two of my best friends!

Take a risk & leap of faith on a business venture. I realize this is incredibly vague, but if I go for it I'll be sharing all about it soon!

Brush up on my baking skills. Ok, maybe learn some baking skills. I got into baking during my late middle/early high school years but dropped it once I started college and have recently gotten the itch back. I would love to try out some recipes and share them on here!

Weekly Goals
-Exercise 3-4x/week & eat healthy
-Pray for the church
-Get 8+ hrs of sleep each night
-Keep those early mornings up!

Continued goals
-Tackle my reading list
-Snail mail
-Finish up writing out Proverbs

Stay sunny,
Katie
