Can you believe August is already over?! I felt like it flew by! As much as I love summer, I had a crazy month of July with moving and August was spent trying to get settled so everything has been a little hectic. I just had a whirlwind wedding week/weekend celebrating one of my favorite couples ever. It was so great to catch up with her, see some friends from college and leave August with a bang! 


BIG NEWS: I JUST GOT A NEW CAMERA!!! I'm sooo excited! When I first started this blog, a few friends of mine graciously took all my outfit pictures (seriously friends, thank you from the bottom of my heart!) because I didn't have a camera of my own. If I do say so myself, they did an amazing job. Since I moved away from all my friends (wow, that's a sad realization) I needed a camera and get my mama to practicing! (hehe!) I ended up getting a Canon EOS Rebel T5 and I think it's going to be a fantastic beginner camera. I have it charging up now and fall outfits pictures are on the calendar to be shot this week, so stay tuned!


I hope y'all had a great summer (don't worry, there's still lots of hot weather left here in the south!) and I have to say I'm super pumped for September because that means FOOTBALL is here!!! Go Dawgs!

FALL FAVORITES




Ok, I can't take it any longer...I'm officially ready for fall! It was in the 50's outside this morning and the only other thing I needed was a pumpkin spice latte in my hand ;).


Thankfully, there's a few more weeks before the weather stays cool all day which gives you plenty of time to stock up on those fall favorites! Here are a few of mine.

1. Barbour Jacket: This jacket is on my ultimate wish list. I've always wanted a Barbour, but I've never been able to pull the trigger on the hefty price. I love the colors that are offered and the corduroy collar. I've linked some other more budget friendly options that I love here (on sale!) and here (I have the insulated version of this coat in 'loden' and it's SO warm. Also love the 'rustic red'). 

2. L.L. Bean striped shirt: Everyone needs a striped shirt for fall. It's so versatile under sweaters, vests and cute on its on with jeans and boots. 

3. J. Crew Puffer Vest: I love vests. They're perfect for fall over a long sleeve shirt for a light layer and in the winter for multiple layers! 

4. Patagonia Fleece: I got my first Patagonia for Christmas last year and I love it! It's so warm and great to throw on over a t-shirt for running errands or going to class (for those of you who don't like to dress up...#guitlyagain). 

5. Old Navy Scarf: Fall and scarves go hand in hand. I love this one from Old Navy because the colors go with almost any color you would wear in the fall. Scarves can be worn in so many different ways to get the look you're going for. I'm all about versatility! 

6. RayBan Sunglasses: Sunglasses are really a favorite year round, but I love these tortoise club masters!

7. Monogrammed Necklace: Another favorite all year round, but I like to wear simple necklaces with sweaters in the fall and this one is just perfect. 

8. Tory Burch Riding Boots: I looove these boots! I got my first pair of TB boots from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I can't wait to wear them when the weather cools down. I literally wear boots with everything in the fall and winter. The last pair I had, I had to get them resoled twice because I wore them so much. They go with everything from jeans to skirts and dresses. I've always wanted a pair of TB boots, but couldn't make myself pay that much for them. When I got my first job out of college, I saved up and waited for the Nordstrom sale to finally pull the trigger! Like I said, I wear boots until the soles fall off, so if you don't wear them as much as I do I would get some less expensive ones for the season. 9. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Scented Candle: The perfect way to get in the fall spirit is to have this candle burning in the room! Every year, Bath and Body Works comes out with a new fall line and it always comes with something pumpkin. If you're not into super scented candles, baking a pumpkin pie or pumpkin muffins also do the trick! :) 

10. Madewell Leather Tote: I think oxblood is going to be another go-to fall color again this season. The great thing about this tote is the color (obvi ;)), the space, and...wait for it...it's monogrammable! (not sure if that's a real word, but it I think it should be hehe) I'm all about anything that can be personalized. I've linked some other oxblood colored totes and cross-body's that I love and are reasonably priced here, here, and here (this one's reversible!). 

11. L.L. Bean boots: My bean boots are a favorite right on up there with my riding boots. I wear them when it's raining, cold, running errands, picking pumpkins in a pumpkin patch (it's no secret I love all things pumpkin), basically anywhere casual! If you're wanting a pair, go ahead and order now because they get backordered quickly. 

12. Coach Leather Loafer: When I'm not wearing my riding boots or bean boots, I'm wearing loafers. These are comfy, supportive and look great with jeans and a sweater. I have a pair I got last season from Tuckernuck that are almost identical to these Coach ones. I also love a good tan flat like this pair if you're not into loafers. 

13. Pearl Studs: It's pretty rare that you'll see me in any other earrings than some type of pearl. I love a statement earring, but in the fall and winter months, I usually stick to pearl studs because with scarves, turtlenecks, and jackets, it can get kinda busy up in the neck/ears area. And besides, pearls are a girls best friend! (along with lipstick, diamonds, and monograms ;) )

CORAL SKIRT

If there's one thing I can count on from J. Crew Factory that I know I'll love, it's their pleated mini skirts. For spring and summer, the skirts are a linen/cotton blend and for fall and winter, they're a wool blend. These skirts are so easy to throw on with a t-shirt or button down when it's warm for a cute and casual look. 

Coral is one of my favorite colors to wear during the summer. I paired this skirt with a crisp white t-shirt and simple necklace for a pop of teal. An outfit like this is perfect to wear to a lunch date, running errands, or class (for you college gals who haven't discovered Nike shorts and big t-shirts ;) #guilty). 

The fall version is out now and I can't wait to style it when the weather cools down!

FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS

I don't think there has been a time in my life when I haven't loved playing with makeup. I remember my first Daddy/Daughter Dance when I was little putting on a pretty dress, having my hair and nails done, and getting to wear my mama's bright red lipstick and feel like a princess. I think the obsession started then. Although I love 'special occasion' makeup (think Holiday/red lips), my 'can't live without' products are my favorite. 

1. Ready Touch Up Veil Broad Spectrum Spf 15 - I started using Bare Minerals makeup in high school when my mom was looking for a new product and let me try some out. I've been hooked ever since. I came across the touch up veil when I bought a starter kit and it came with it. I'm so glad it did! This stuff is amazing. I put it on my entire face after I'm done applying all my makeup just to 'set' it. It comes in a different shades if you prefer a color, but I use Translucent. I use it to touch up oily spots through out the day. Have you ever put on too much blush by mistake? Well, just swipe this over your cheeks and it will tone it down! It's a little expensive ($23) but since you don't need a ton everyday, it goes a long way and is worth it in my opinion. I've also used this and love it, as well. 

2. Original Foundation Broad Spectrum Spf 15 - I've tried a lot of other loose powder foundations and I keep coming back to this one. It's not heavy and the 'medium beige' shade blends well into my natural skin tone. When I run out of this and don't have time to go pick up some more, I use Maybelline's Mineral Power powder, which is my favorite over the counter foundation. 

3. Covergirl Classic Color Blush - I only started wearing blush within the last year or so. It always scared me before because I never knew what color to choose and I've seen blush go terribly wrong. A friend of mine let me try hers one day and this was it. I ended up loving the color on me (I use 'iced plum') and have never looked back. I still find myself wanting to try a blush from Bare Minerals, but 'why fix it if it ain't broke?' ;) and this one's only $7! 

4. L'Oreal Blackbuster by Infallible Eyeliner - Y'all. This is the best liquid/pencil mix eyeliner I've ever come across. I know that sounds weird (liquid/pencil mix), but it's a liquid eyeliner that goes on similar to a magic marker (like a pencil but smoother). And it stays on all day without touch-ups. I've always gone back and forth between liquid and pencil eyeliner and could never get the look I wanted. Pencil is too harsh sometimes and liquid can be, well, too liquid-y, ya know? My mom picked it up one day and suggested I try it. I'm so glad she did! The only thing about this eyeliner is that it only comes in black. I used to only wear brown, but I've switched to black because I love this eyeliner so much! I also recommend using this only on the top lid, not the bottom. (see #8)

5. Pur Minerals Correcting Primer Redness Reducer - I don't know how I've gone my entire life before discovering this stuff. It's ah-mazing. I was at Ulta one day talking to a makeup artist and I was telling her I needed something to put under my powder (other than piling on concealer) that would cover my redness(my face has a natural pink tone to it). She suggested this primer. It's an all natural primer that I put on before any of my makeup. The price is a little steep ($31), but you just need a tiny amount (a little goes a long way) and you totally get your money's worth. It goes on green (don't worry, you can't see it through your foundation) and eliminates any redness in your face. They also have all kinds of different options if you don't need a redness reducer. This is a must have product in my opinion. 

6. Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara - I've tried tons of expensive mascaras, and none work as well on me than this mascara. It gives me great volume and length and is only $8! 

7. Bare Minerals Warmth All-Over Face Color - This is another one of those products where a little goes a long way. I've tried many over the counter bronzers and none of them compare to this. I use a teeny bit on my forehead, chin, and cheeks. It gives a great overall glow and looks natural with minimal use. 

8. L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner - So, I don't always use a pencil eyeliner, but when I do, I use this one. I only put it on the bottom in a very, very thin (almost smudged...hard to describe, haha!) line. I love wearing my liquid (see #4) with a thicker line on top and just a little of this pencil on the bottom to get the look I'm going for. 

9. Urban Decay Eyeshadow - Of all the makeup products worth spending a little more money on, eyeshadow is one of them. I use the Urban Decay palette (see #14) that I got for Christmas, but I love these single eyeshadows, as well. I used the light colors up the quickest in my palette, so I buy these little guys while I use the other colors that are still left in my palette. The quality of the shadows are so great and they go one beautifully. Even if you don't like to wear a ton of eyeshadow (I only do a smoky eye for special occasions), I think wearing just a lighter color with a little shimmer really pulls a look together. 

10. Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss - This is another beauty product I believe in spending a little more money on. Over the counter lip glosses can look so cheap sometimes. I actually found this color on a whim. I was needing some mineral veil and the store I went to had sold out, so I bought a mini kit that had it, along with this lip gloss in 'smooth talker'. I was shocked when I tried it on and loved the color on me. It's natural looking but with a slight shimmer. It's my new favorite gloss! I want to see if they have it in a lipstick shade because it's that good. 

11. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer - I've never found an over the counter highlighter quite as good as this one. I tried this based on another bloggers recommendation, and let me tell you, she was right! This is stuff is awesome and it's only $8! I do love my designer highlighters, but this is a great inexpensive alternative. 

12. Smashbox Under Eye BB Cream - This is my favorite under eye highlighter when my bank account allows it (it's $25 a pop). Even though it is under eye cream, I also use it to cover pimples and other blemishes. It stays on all day and has great coverage. 

13. Beeswax Lip Balm -  I go through different lip balms constantly, but at the moment, this is my favorite. On a typical day I'll just wear lip balm instead of gloss or lipstick, so I always have some on me. I also wear lip balm to bed overnight so my lips stay smooth. 

14. Urban Decay Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette - I love these shadows! I got this palette for Christmas last year and it has served me so well. Urban Decay has 3 different palettes, so you can pick the one that suits your skin tone the best. I personally love the 2 for my complexion. Even though it is pricey ($54), it comes with 12 high quality shadows that look amazing on. This palette is great for creating a beautiful smokey eye and all kinds of different looks. There's tons of tutorials on YouTube that tell you how to get a specific look with the colors from the palette. If you're into eyeshadow, I highly recommend this! If you're not, I recommend the single shadows (see # 9).

CHEVRON MIDI

I feel like such a lady in this skirt. When I was in high school, I didn't like anything unless it was a considerable amount above my knees...I'm so glad things have changed! I used to get my mom to hem everything I bought and now I'm begging her to let it all out. I got this skirt on major sale at Lands End. It is so comfy but runs a bit big so I would recommend sizing down. I paired this skirt with this super fun ruffled tank from Monday Dress Boutique. When I came across this top online, I immediately ordered it because it looked so southern and preppy to me and I knew I would get a lot of wear out of it. Every time I pull this skirt out it makes me want to go to an afternoon tea or brunch with the ladies. And since you can't go wrong with pearls, I chose a cluster pearl necklace that was a bridesmaid gift from one of my sweet friends!

PRETTY IN PINK

It's no secret that my favorite color is pink. It always has been and probably always will be. I had a this friend when I was little and her entire room was painted hot pink and I came home to my mom and begged her to paint my room hot pink. She came back at me with an absolute NO (which was probably for the best, looking back), because overwhelming much? She did, however, let me have everything else pink. I'm pretty sure the only reason I tried to become a ballerina when I was little was because they wore pink leo's and tutus. Unfortunately, I turned out to be a terrible dancer, so my dream of wearing pink as a career came to a screeching halt.


I know a lot of people are can be a little hesitant to wear pink. Maybe you're afraid of looking too young? Maybe you think you'll come off looking slightly like a bottle of pepto-bismol? Or maybe you're just not into pink! Don't worry, I won't be offended if you hate pink and refuse to ever wear it ;) 

Well friends, have no fear! I'm going to share with you how I incorporate my favorite color into my wardrobe and maybe you'll be a little more inspired when you see something pink. 


The great thing about pink is it can be worn as a statement color or as a neutral, depending on the shade. For example, this Kate Spade satchel and clutch make great statement pieces for an otherwise bland outfit. The same goes for these heels. They would look great with white skinnies and a navy/white striped shirt or with a simple white, navy, or black dress. To tie pink into neutrals, this cross body and satchel would go well with a simple white blouse and denim shorts or a neutral colored dress. And because I'm obsessed with navy and pink together, I would wear it with a navy dress like this one with nude heels. So classy and feminine! Pale pink also pairs well with heather gray, black, and tan. 

I am loving this blush pink winter coat! I think it gives the winter time a breath of fresh air with all the black and dark colors it usually brings. I love how light the color is because it's like a khaki or cream winter coat, just a little more feminine. 

A couple more simple ways to incorporate pink is with fingernail polish and lipstick. I always have a light pink and bright pink polish at home. I prefer pink on my toes at all times and on my fingernails in the spring and summer. I typically don't wear a ton of lipstick in the warmer months, but a nice shade of pink (remember, it doesn't have to be bright!) always makes me feel a little more put together whether its lipstick, gloss, or just a tinted chapstick. Speaking as someone who has wasted too much money on the wrong color lipstick, go to the makeup counter, try it on and talk to a makeup artist who can steer you in the right direction. It will be so worth it. You'll be able to find your perfect shade and will never have to guess again!

WHITE ON WHITE

I have been loving all the white on white I've been seeing this summer! Everything from a white dress with white Jack Rogers, a white top with white skinnies, or a shirt/skirt set. Love it all. It looks so crisp and clean to me. 

For my white on white outfit, I paired my navy/white Jacks with it and a faded red lip. I have seriously worn my navy Jacks with everything this summer and I'm not sorry. Ha! They really have been a good color purchase that adds a little pop to every outfit. I got my shirt and skirt set at the Loft outlet at the beginning of summer, so I can't link them but I've linked some really similar pieces that are great alternatives. When I picked these up in the store to try on, I actually picked them up separately (they weren't styled together or near each other). When I got to the dressing room I realized the lace top matched the lace on the skirt perfectly! So, of course, I had to get them. I've also worn this lace top with white skinnies and with jean shorts and chinos. So versatile! The skirt is just as versatile. I wore the skirt with a hot pink tank and wedges for my brothers college graduation and it was perfect for the warm weather.
