STRIPES & GINGHAM

If there is one thing I will always believe in, it's wearing bright colors all year round. Just because the skies turn grey doesn't mean your wardrobe has to! There are so many ways to transition your summer brights into the fall and winter months. A purse is a great way to do that because it just adds that pop to your outfit.

Like I've said before, one of my favorite things about the cooler weather is being able to layer my clothing. It's a great way to mix patterns or add a little texture to a plain sweater. I love mixing patterns but I know it can be intimidating at times. An important thing to remember when mixing patterns and prints is to have similar and/or complementing colors. Also, mixing a bigger print (like my stripes above) and a small print (like my gingham above) makes it easier on the eyes. I found this really great chart on Pinterest (via History in High Heels) that I think will be helpful!

I'm also SUPER excited about this post because this is the first time I've been able to pull out my Tory Burch boots! I think it is safe to say I'm in love (insert heart eyes emoji here). Y'all, I'm seriously so happy I splurged and got these boots. I got them at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, so if you're in the market I would wait until the sale comes back around and snag these babies. So. Worth. It. The color is gorgeous and I can't wait to wear these until the soles fall off! (Which hopefully is in years to come...ha!)

How are some ways you like mix up your fall wardrobe?

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL

tunic // scarf // leggings // boots // watch // lipstick (color is 'Call the Shots')

Yesterday was the first official day of fall, which means it's now totally acceptable to pull out the blanket scarves, leggings and boots! Yay! And have all the PSL's you want ;)

Temperatures here in Tennessee are still pretty warm during the day, but at night it gets cool which makes it perfect for this tunic. Y'all need to snag this tunic up before it sells out because it's only $14 and goes perfectly with leggings and boots! It's like the grown up version of an oversized t-shirt and leggings ;)

This tartan blanket scarf has to be my most favorite of the ones I own. I really love blanket scarves because they can be worn so many ways. If you're curious how to wear it like I have above and many other ways, check out these awesome charts

The beginning of fall always feels like a new year to me. It's probably because I used to love the beginning of school years with back to school shopping and football season starting up again. I'm so excited for crunchy leaves, crisp mornings, fire pit evenings, and of course, all things pumpkin!

DRAPER JAMES GIRL

Just a few months ago, Reese Witherspoon made this Southern girl's dream come true. She has created a clothing line dedicated to all things Southern laced with grace and charm. *Swoon* I've always been a huge fan of Reese (just ask my friends how many times I've seen Sweet Home Alabama...) and this has really put her over the top in my book.

When I first heard about this new clothing line, I immediately looked it up to see what it was all about. Reese Witherspoon created this line to honor her Southern heritage and her grandparents, Dorothea Draper and William James Witherspoon, who taught her what it meant to be a southern lady and that style and charm go hand in hand.

I would literally take one of everything if I could, but here are some of my favorite things.

Ok, I'll make myself stop because I could literally put everything on the website on here ;)

Isn't it ALL so good? Clearly, I have a serious thing for navy, stripes, and magnolias. I hope you love this line as much as I do. I love that these pieces are classic so you can put your own twist and make them your own even if you're not from the South.

Kuddos, Reese. I think you've created a winner!

FIRST FALL LAYERS

sweater // shirt // pants // shoes // tote (similar) // necklace // watch

One of my favorite things about fall clothing is layering. It's great because the weather is typically too warm for a jacket, but cool enough for another light layer.

Ok, real talk - I bought this sweater thinking it was red. Not light red or orang-y red, but a true red. I even bought this black and white checked button down to layer with it thinking it would be so good to wear to Georgia games. Until one day I wore it and this really sweet lady goes "I love your orange sweater!" and at that moment I realized I had not bought a red sweater, but an orange/red/coral (I'm not even sure what color it is now) sweater.  And I was wearing my black and white checkered shirt with it and I really don't like orange and black together because it reminds me of Halloween, which I think looks great on decorations, just not on clothing. Anyway, I think my orange/red sweater looks much better with light blue than black :).

When the weather changes even slightly into cooler temps, I'm the girl who pulls out her boots. But, this year I'm making myself wear more flats. I swear I have the most sensitive feet ever and if I even think about a blister on my foot, one will show up! Ok...not really but you get my drift ;). So on my search to find comfortable, cute flats that I could fulfill my goal with, I came across these adorable bow flats (good news! they're on sale right now!). The things that made me love them were the bow, of course, the price, and the reviews were great. I was a little hesitant about the gold color, thinking if I hated them I would just send them back, but I ended up loving them when they came in! The color is so perfect for fall. My dream flats are these and the pump version, but I can't quite handle the price right now.

What are your favorite ways to layer for fall?
